nice little pub/restaurant. food was lovely. I could eat the Texas toast as a big plate meal alone it was so tasty. For people moaning on here about wait times yes there is a bit of a wait but not the longest wait for food i have ever had, tho from myself an partner having worked in pubs an restaurants we totally understand why you wait when its cooked fresh not just microwave food. enjoyed joining in wearing a cowboy hat

Really special birthday meal for my son. My son is obsessed with Dolly Parton, and chose this place to eat for his birthday and it did not disappoint. The country music playing, was perfect for him. The staff were so friendly and attentive. They had put a big balloon, a birthday card, and a cowboy hat on the table for my son. He was over the moon. The food had the wow factor and tasted lovely. Really glad we came, thank you for having us the special touches were so appreciated

After 5 years driving past the Star/ Smokin' Jack's, we thought it was high time we went and tried it out. Very pleasant and welcoming staff from the moment we arrived. Great service and amazing food. One signature burger, A very large half rack of ribs, Baconator fries, Key lime pie, Red velvet cheesecake. Nb the deserts are delicious and very obviously made in house, there aren't many restaurants of any size that can deliver such attention to detail. A welcome change from caterer supply tosh. All dishes are well worth having again, but we will be going back to try some more of the menu.

The effort they go to is excellent they really made an effort with making a gluten free burger bun seem less boring making an awkward issues into no issue. if you are looking for drinks with your meal this has to be the cheapest independent pub I have been to in a long time, They have a bar only side to the establishment so you can also attend just fir drinks. in short TRY SMOKIN JACKS you won't be disappointed

This is an amazing place to eat & drink, the staff are all very helpful and happy. We arrived on chance my son found the place online, so 4 of us arrived puppy I really wanted to try the ribs which we found out have to be booked in advance but they managed to find a spare half rack of ribs (see picture) it was LARGE, my daughter had the unicorn burger my wife & son had the jack Daniels burger. All the food was freshly cooked to a very high standard

We booked last minute through the website for a table at 6pm for our anniversary. We had an email within 45 mins explaining that they couldn’t do 6pm but could do 630pm so we excepted but explained our taxi was already booked and that we were in no rush as we were out for our anniversary. We arrived just before 6pm and was seated and great very quickly and professionally even though we arrived early and at the same time as a table of 8. We ordered food and drinks within 10 mins of being seated. It was unfortunate that the honey rolls weren’t ready so we could have them as complimentary to the table as per the menu but we understand the pub can get really busy and with all food being made on the premises these things happen. I could tell the “Deputy Sheriff” had been in hospitality game for a while as she was very good at making sure everything happened at the right time for instance the seated tables had complimentary nacho chips due to the honey rolls not being available but they came at around 20 mins after ordering which is the correct and sensible way to do things (don’t lay all your cards on the table too early) my wife had the Unicorn Burger which looked amazing, the colours and the glitter was impressive as was the taste. I had the Jack Daniels Burger which was amazing too so tasty and again looked really good the sweet potato wedges were great. We also asked for mozzarella sticks which again was really good. None of the food was greasy, under/over cooked or cold which for a busy undermanned pub that prepares and cooks everything on site was a great achievement. There are a couple of negative reviews on here that mention about poor service and the owners children which I feel after our experience twisted and cruel. If you have ever been in the hospitality industry like myself you would understand how that it doesn’t take much to start the snowball effect and rude customers don’t help, I mean even Claridges have their off days and as for the children being behind the bar so what it is nice to know that there are families within the industry that can still have some family life too (which I didn’t have hence why I am no longer in hospitality). Toni, what you and your husband along with your staff have achieved is really good and something that I feel will eventually be vital with the right moves you gave us a lovely evening and a place that we will definitely be back to visit again. And as for your son helping you during service you must be so proud and hopefully in a few years his dad will have a Sous Chef to take some of the load off.

9 of us came to eat at the star jd bar. Three children 6 adults. The food and drink is fantastic and so are the staff. Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed it and can't recommend enough. We are away on a two week caravan holiday from up in Lancashire and this is our first time visiting the star. Keep up the good work.

We booked Smoking Jacks as it was our dog Woody's 6th birthday. The staff were absolutely tremendous from the get go.. They even cooked a steak for Woody's birthday which was a wonderful surprise to us all. Loved the decor, the atmosphere and the service. The food was cracking too, The burgers were moist and flavorsome oh and the garlic bread was WOW.. To evaluate our experience the food really was great, best burger I have had hands down on the Island but what makes Smoking Jacks has to be the warm service from all the staff, especially the lady who served us. With her obvious skill in service and customer care I would take a guess that it has to be the owner. We all wanted to say a huge thank you we had such a great evening thank you to all your staff at smoking Jacks, You are a definite hit!
